Choosing a Radiator: Best Heating

While aluminium and cast iron radiators are universally considered the better materials, it's important to know how you want your heating to work: speed up to temperature or long lasting heat.

For speed, you should aim for aluminium radiators.  This material is a superconductor and is amongst the most effective for warming an area quickly and efficiently.  But, as quick as it warms up, it will cool down just as fast.  This could be seen as a bad thing, but it makes the material great for achieving ideal ambient room temperature; quickly getting up to temperature, warming the space (or topping it up), then cooling off.

Our Holborn range is an great example, with its three variations: horizontal, vertical and electric!

For retaining heat, the old-school cast-iron radiator is a tried and tested choice.  They are slow to get going, but they'll hold on to heat for a much longer period than steel or aluminium will. You'll also find that, because of the nature of the material, there are a whole range of more ornate and detailed designs than any other range.

The Hampstead is a stunning example, especially when fitted with the brass controls.
